Smart Energy Construction
Smart Energy Construction is at the core of what we do here at Skyview Homes, LLC — because Smart Energy Construction offers you a better built home, with greater energy savings. A home that is built with Smart Energy Construction is built with higher quality materials — so you not only save money over basic built-to-code construction, but you can also enjoy a more comfortable living environment, cleaner indoor air, and more freedom from home maintenance demands.
Smart Energy Construction consists of six state-of-the-art energy saving components, that combined together can dramatically cut your home energy costs. The following is a brief list of these technologically advanced components that are used in the Smart Energy Construction of each and every Skyview Home.
Spray Foam Insulation
Exterior Walls
2X6 Frame construction with Spray Foam Insulation with an R28 insulation rating. For maximum thermal efficiency and air sealing, we use a closed cell foam with an effective R-Value of R-7 per inch. Closed cell foam is the highest performing insulation available because it seals air infiltration, has the highest R-Value available and is resistant to moisture movement.
Foam insulation expands around every void and seals all air infiltration, the primary source of energy loss. Indoor temperatures stay constant, allowing decreased use of heat or air conditioning. This translates to savings on utility bills and extends the life of your heating and cooling equipment by 4 times. http://www.biobond.com/benefits.html
Double-Pane, Low E2 Glass Windows
These windows have greater insulating ability because the E2 coating limits solar heat-gain/loss. These windows allow for a large amount of visible light to pass through the glass while blocking the passage of infrared and some ultra-violet rays.
High-Efficiency Furnace
The standard furnace has an AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) of 80%. This means that 80% of the fuel is being used to warm your home, while the other 20% escapes as exhaust with combustion gases. All of our homes include an upgraded furnace with at least a 93% AFUE — reducing the amount of gases that are lost to exhaust to just 7%.
Insulated Exterior Doors
These doors feature solid polyurethane cores that offer five times the insulation value of regular wood doors. They also offer the added bonus of not rotting, cracking, or splitting like traditional wood doors.
Advance R-38 Insulated Roof
In the world of construction and design there is a special measurement of energy efficiency called "R-value." R-value measures how resistant a particular material is to heat flow. The higher the number, the greater the material resists heat flow, and the greater its ability to insulate. Because heat rises, an advanced insulated roof is crucial for energy-efficiency. We use superior-grade R-38 insulation for all of our roofs.
